How the Pomodoro Method Works

The Pomodoro Method, developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s, is a simple yet effective time management technique. It involves the following steps:

  1. Set a Timer for 25 Minutes: Choose a task to focus on, set a timer for 25 minutes (this is known as one Pomodoro), and work on the task without any interruptions.
  2. Work Intensely: During the 25-minute interval, focus solely on the task at hand. The goal is to eliminate distractions and work as efficiently as possible.
  3. Take a 5-Minute Break: When the timer goes off, take a short 5-minute break to rest and recharge. Use this time to stretch, walk around, or do something relaxing.
  4. Repeat: After completing four Pomodoros (four 25-minute work intervals), take a longer break of 15–30 minutes.

This structure provides students with frequent breaks, allowing them to recharge and return to their tasks with renewed focus and energy.
